A Day at the Races

Sat. October 26 was the Emma Crawford Coffin Races.  It was a beautiful day - sunny with a high of 70.  Perfect race weather.  Of course, the contingent from the Haunted Parlor was in attendance.

There were coffins

All Manner of Emmas - she rides in the coffin

And of course a race!  The teams were fast this year - we had about 8 run it in under 30 seconds.  There was a tie for first between the Team 33 Manitou Kiwanis Key Club and Team 19 The Manitou Music Foundation - the Treble Makers.  Both teams ran a 27.7.

And here they are in action.

Third place at 28 seconds went to the Team 38 Zombie Tigers from American Furniture Warehouse.

It was a wonderful race darling!  You really should come to Manitou sometime and see it for yourself.

  1. Awesome photos! And you guys dressed perfectly for the occasion.

It's impressive that the Kiwanis were able to make such good time considering the air drag of those enormous shoulder pads. But the coffin made from Amazon boxes would be a little too scary, to anybody who's worked there.

I've sometimes thought about visiting Manitou in October, if I ever have money to spare. It's a Halloween Town that Tim Burton couldn't have devised.

    1. You can always have room and board at Chateau Haunted Parlor if ever you decide to visit.

  2. You've outdone yourself in your attire this year, Lord, Lady, and Baby M! I especially like the splash of purple colour from your wig, Lady M. Is that new this year? And lots of great photos of the coffins, Emmas and racers too. I like the comfy armchair provided to Emma by the Golden Girls team. And of course, I must give a special shout-out to the Pikes Peak Pride coffin too. And I like the one made out of Amazon boxes but I'm not sure what that thing on top is supposed to be? My favourite Emma is the young gentleman wearing the Viking helmet with braids over top of his crash helmet. Safety first, I agree!

    1. The purple was new this year. I like to buy a variety of wigs on sale at spirit the year before so I can change up my look. Friday I shall go wig shopping.
