More Halloween Ads of Long ago

This will give you some idea of the merchandise available for a Halloween party in the 1920's

I would love a free copies of the Bogie Book!  To bad I am 94 years to late.

Rubber Doughnuts?  Cat Cries? Snapping Mottoes?  What kind of witchcraft is this?

  1. I remember when crepe paper was king! All those streamers! Does anyone actually use crepe paper any more?

    1. Yes - I was at a child birthday party last October in which crepe paper was featured. But I would say not so much for Halloween. I think it has been replaced by spider webs.

  2. Given the popularity of Halloween doughnuts, rubber ones must’ve been the ultimate prank. I’m a little disappointed with the Snapping Mottoes. I was hoping it was one of those vintage toys that were so dangerous they’ve been outlawed.

I feel like I wouldn’t have fit in with the Halloween crowd back then. They’d whisper behind my back, “Where’s her apron? And how come she never brings doughnuts?”

    1. I might wear a crepe paper apron with an owl or witch design. But making doughnuts - not a chance.
