Haunted Mansion Holiday

Good tidings! Baby M here with another spooky Disney post! This time about every Halloween blogger's favorite Disney ride: the Haunted Mansion.

Now while we love the classic Haunted Mansion, Disneyland revamps the ride every September/October into a Nightmare Before Christmas Takeover. They are the only Disney park that does this!

They do an incredible job transforming the mansion and the ride into a wonderful Creepy Christmas adventure. The outside is very fun!

The inside is also incredible!

I especially love the room with the portraits that grow!

My friend and I wanted to be able to enjoy the ride instead of focusing on getting pictures so she actually recorded it on her GoPro. The videos are below if you'd like to watch.

If you happen to be at Disneyland in September/October, I highly recommend waiting in line to do this ride, especially if you are a fan of the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Be sure to head over to the Countdown to Halloween Blog for more Halloween reading.

My Dearly Departed Mother

Today would have been my mothers 81st Birthday.  Despite having passed 17 years ago, I still miss her all the time.  Some deaths one never gets over.

She was a good sport when it came to Halloween - loading us kids into a Volkswagen van and driving us all over Winnetka to trick or treat or decorating our home, 561Winnetka Ave, with Halloween Beistle cut outs
Her favorite ride at Disney World was the haunted mansion.  She thought it went so "fast" and was not fond of the part where the Hatbox Ghost pushes the doom buggy out of the attic window and into the graveyard. She would have loved the 50th celebration this year.
I think she would have enjoyed the Haunted Parlor too.  Even what I did to her clock.

Crypt Keeping Again

This will be my 5th year participating in the Countdown to Halloween.  I will try to blog daily in October about all thing spooky.  I hope to find some new blogs to follow, blog friends to meet and guests of the Haunted Parlor as we share our mutual obsession with the best holiday ever created.

I just dig the new badges Daphne Rozum made themed as a tribute to the Haunted Mansion. I chose Ezra Bean, the unluckiest hitchhiker we've ever seen. As children, my sisters and brother both loved and hated the hitchhiking ghost mirrors.

Loved because it was fun to see who everyone was taking home.  We all wanted Ezra and would laugh at whoever got Gus, the prisoner.  However, it also meant the ride was over, which was very sad indeed.

So see you tomorrow, for the first of 31 days of Halloween.  This ride is not over by any means.

Gifts from my Daughter

Who has the best child?  I do.  Look at these amazing gifts she brought us from D23 Expo.
A Puzzle and a 50th Anniversary Haunted Mansion T-shirt.  Hopefully she will gift us a blog about her adventures out west.  And yes, that's velvet on that frame.
