Pineapples for Halloween???

I saw this ingenuous bit of Halloween Marketing in an Australian Grocery store.  Do they carve these down under? 

Now these big orange pumpkins are more like it.  My friend, Ms. Swell Bee said these American style pumpkins have appeared only recently in Australia.  Before that, Australians attempted to carve winter squash with a really hard, thick rind like that shown upon on the price sign.  They still don't understand that a long stem in preferred to a sad little nub.
