One down, many to go

As you know, I wrote some resolutions this year.  One of those was to replace my mailbox.  I chose to paint the metal box black and stain the new post a dark walnut.  To adorn the post, I got a shelf bracket in the shape of a twisted gnarly branch and an adorable owl to sit atop.  Thanks to my swell brother and sister in law for helping with this construction project while they visited us.

  1. Have you ever had your mailbox hit? I'll have to do a post on my mailbox.

    1. What do you mean by hit? Hit with a car? Nope never happens. We live on a steep not very busy street so not a lot of through traffic.

    2. We're on a busy street. Been here 45 years and have replaced the mailbox eight times. Cars, trucks and kids with bats. One woman that took my mailbox out tried to get me to pay for damages to her car. Didn't happen!

  2. That is SO awesome! It would be a pleasure to collect mail from it every day!

    1. We made sure the specs were to the USPS guideline. We also got our postal carrier to approve it. He had rotator cuff surgery recently and was glad we included him in our plans.
