Tonight my twisted sister and I will be driving toward Chicago. We will break our journey in the town of Greenfield Iowa, home to the Haunted Motel Greenfield. When I called to make the reservation I was shushed and told not to use the "H" or "G" word. They call them friendlies. So I requested a room where the "friendlies" are active. It ought to be fun tonight.
Supposedly it is the bathroom in the restaurant that is haunted. I hope that is not the room they have given us!
Sounds like a fun adventure awaits!
ReplyDeleteWell it was a relaxing and peaceful stay. The room was huge, beautifully restored and very comfortable. The friendlies never appeared but it sure was a nice stay.
DeleteI can't wait to hear your stories after staying there! I am pretty surprised that they use the term "friendlies". Is that in case the ghosts are listening in? By the way, I just realized that I had been to that solarium in the Denver Botanic Gardens that you shared pics of! I have pictures of myself standing in there during the summer a couple years ago. It sure looks different for Halloween! I guess it just took me a few days to piece that together in my mind. I recognized the metalwork in there. I just watched a video someone else made of the Glow event and could see all these cool ghostly figures floating around in windows. How great!
ReplyDeleteThat is cool! I remember your post about your Colorado visit. In the hotel tonight. So far no friendlies
DeleteA moaning Myrtle in the bathroom could be fun.
ReplyDeleteSupposedly, it is an old lady. But she never materialized.
DeleteI've always wanted to stay the night in a haun...er..friendly hotel. Unfortunately, my family doesn't share my affinity for the friendlies.
ReplyDeleteThey are usually old and beautiful. I think you would enjoy the history.
DeleteI'm reading this post and commenting on November 8 . . . did you survive the night? Did the friendlies make off with you? I'm all agog to know what happened!
ReplyDeleteNo friendlies-just a lovely old hotel that has been restored.
