Yesterday was the running of the 25th Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races here in Manitou Springs, Colorado. It brought a lot of changes - some good, some not so good.
The city of Manitou, in their infinite hippy wisdom, got around to repairing?? the north side of the street on Friday, Oct. 25. Those "repairs" led to an unsafe surface for the coffin teams. Thus, this year, for the first time, each team ran alone. Unfortunately, nobody was informed, leading me to choose the side the teams ran on. I did not get pictures of the actual race because of the close proximity. And it took twice as long making for a really exhausting day. I hope they do not keep this format into the future.
It did seem more organized with more sponsors, businesses and volunteers. With all baggage on the table, lets look at a few snapshots of the day.
Here's a view of his Lordship, myself, the Son of Nell and Baby M. before the races. |

Wonderful photos of participants and racers! And what a lovely family photo to start it all off. Lovely fangs, Lady M!
ReplyDeleteThank you - I enjoyed my fangs.
DeleteYou have a lovely family. You're all so wonderfully pale, must be getting plenty of moonlight. Alien skeletons riding ponies has to be cutest thing I’ve seen all year.
ReplyDeleteI thought that little horse drawn hearse was very charming too.
