The skeleton craze is back. It was somewhat late this year and a little subdued due to the scandal last year. I have since spoken to the director of the event who said indeed there was cheating.
She said they would have a team of judges this year but so far I have only seen evidence of the ballot system. At least they change the location of the voting boxes and the cheaters are not participating.
On Sunday, his Lordship and I walked into town and photographed the skeletons. Here are a few.
Manitou Springs Real Estate did a rather crusty old agent covered in spider webs and keys.
Pirates feature big this year
This is Olde Tyme Photography's pirate - last year they did a dance hall girl.
This is Captain Custard. He is a very funny skeleton with a plate of bones, an eye ball drink, and a poison water bottle. He is outside the Colorado Custard Company.
These two skeletons are in the Glass Blowers of Manitou - they are quite beautiful.
Pelindaba Lavender has a lovely lady skeleton holding a bouquet of sweet smelling lavender.
Cherokee's of Manitou has a pirate skeleton dancing on some cheese! That's some creative interpretation!
