Gold on Them There Hills

Every year we venture into the interior of Colorado in search of gold - Aspen gold.  We started our search with a night of spooky camping  at Mueller State Park with our lovely daughter Baby M and her charming hubby now to be known as The Norseman.  We got a little tipsy imbibing a delicious concoction of mulled apple cider and Moonshine.

Camping in the mountain of Colorado in October can be a cold experience.  Indeed it was about 50 degrees and lightly raining. But it makes having a fire wonderful. We also carved a pumpkin.  It was hard with the crappy knife in the camp kit but we made our best effort.  It is a cat starring into an abyss or a howling dog.  Whichever you prefer.

For Breakfast we had spider web waffles using this cute little waffle maker I got from Target.

His Lordship and I then proceeded to explore beautiful hot spots around the state for fall color and were not disappointed.

We unfortunately had to cut our trip short because I injured myself so did not get to see the Kebler Pass and Crested Butte areas in their full glory.  Hard to see fall color driving in the dark wee hours of the morning.

How is the fall color in your corner of the world?

  1. What spectacular fall foliage photos! Kudos to you for camping out in such chilly weather. Your jack-o-lantern and spider web waffles are great! Sorry you injured yourself -- hope you feel better soon!

  2. If I had been smart enough to bring painkillers we could have stayed.
