Let the Countdown Begin

October is finally here and yesterday, at the 11th hour, I decided to join the Halloween countdown.  So now, in addition to decorating, planning two parties, finishing projects, out of town guests, and designing a costume I am going to blog, blog, blog.  I hope I am up to the task.

However, the most important thing I must do in October is drop five pounds.  I am sorry to say that I am a little too plump to get into my corset.  If I do not lose some weight, breathing on Halloween will be extremely challenging.  So in additional to countdown to Halloween, I am doing Lady's M's countdown to a slimmer me. I might blog a little about what I am eating and whine a little about what I cannot have like candy corn and spiced pumpkin lattes. But it will be worth it to get into my new corset.

This thing is squeezing the daylights outa me and I don't even have my dress under it.
I did get some kick ass boots at Goodwill this year for $10.00 that will fit me no matter what so I am looking forward to wearing those.
So 31 days to a slimmer me and a great Halloween. I hope my fellow bloggers will give me some support to make it through this trying time.

  1. So, uh I usually don't advocate weight loss dieting, but,

Essentially, when your body doesn't know how to metabolize a compound in something you eat, it stores it in the fat cells, causing them to swell.

So a good way to approach weight loss is to figure out the foods that your body might be having a hard time metabolizing, i.e. the common allergenic foods: corn, soy, wheat, eggs, yeast, dairy, and sugar.

Specifically, cutting down on grains, and correctly preparing the ones that you do eat will almost always result in some weightloss.

For instance, I lost some weight when I cut out wheat, this is because the wheat kernel has a coating that makes it indigestible, so that if an animal eats it, the kernel will pass through whole and be excreted in a nutritious pile of manure so that it can sprout.

You can remove this coating by soaking the grains overnight, then washing the grain before cooking.

Sugar is less relevant to the weight thing, but if you have a sweet tooth you might avoid processed sugars, and go heavy on the berries, which have an easily metabolized sacharride rather than fructose or sucrose.

And don't be afraid of fat, it's pure fuel, your body will just burn it up. Just make sure you get a high quality fat. Organic grassfed animal fat is particularly good, though fish fats have all those omega 3's in 'em.

Um, hope any of that helps?

    1. Thanks for the helpful advice. I am definitely gonna cut out the crap like bread, chips, sugar, dairy, flour, and processed junk. Lots of veggies and salads and lean meats like fish, bison, grass fed beef, and chicken breast are what I plan to eat. My diet has been rubbish lately so I really need to clean it up plus I have a cholesterol check in November so that is further motivation. What kinds of grains do you soak? Do you eat them raw or cook them?

    2. In honor of your suggestions, I will have an organic berry smoothy for breakfast.

    3. I pretty much just do brown rice. I'm kinda poor, so I just get a few pounds of organic basmati brown rice, soak it over night, and then cook it up with mung beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, turnips, that kinda stuff. Then I put away the leftovers in the fridge to have as a side throughout the week, with some sauteed kale or greens and a little protein.

  2. Good luck with the weight loss! The corset and the boots are fab! We're just heading towards summer in Australia so weight loss is on my mind too. *sigh*
