Antlers Hotel

Built in 1883, the Antlers Hotel has been a Colorado Springs Landmark and the site of many haunting.  The original structure burned to the ground in 1898 due to a spark from a passing train.  It was rebuilt on an even grander scale in 1901.  In the 1960's it was demolished intentionally and a modern hotel that still stands today was built in its place. It is haunted by 3 ghosts.

Judge Baldwin was an alcoholic farmer who rode a pony into town and drunkenly espoused his political views from a soapbox. Almost everyone knew him due to these antics.  When his body was found at the bottom of a well, with one turned out pocket, no money, and his pony, hat and boots nearby, speculation was rife.  Was he murdered, did he mistakenly stumble into the well after a bender, or did he commit suicide?  The people of the town  joked that he drowned in the very liquid he had avoided drinking all his life.  The coroners inquest could not return a verdict and thus the death remained a mystery.  Within days however, the townspeople claimed to see Judge wandering around  and a haunting legend was born.  These days he is said to haunt the bar of the Antlers, which was named for him.  I found a spooky clip facebook that is supposed to be the judge.
Another ghost is said to be that of a young woman who committed suicide in the hotel on the night of her prom  in the 1970's.  I could find no evidence online to corroborate this story.  People at the hotel claim to have seen her in some of the guest rooms.

Finally, an elegant woman in a flowing white gown has been seen walking down the back stairs of the hotel.  I could not find much of a story there either.

  3. You would think that the ghosts would leave with the old hotel.
