So that is how Monty Don, Britain's favorite gardener, says you should design a pot. A pillar is a large upright plant, a filler is a bushy plant and a spiller is a trailing plant. So I attempted to follow that rule today although I probably failed miserably.
For my pillar I got a gorgeous black foliage dahlia that has orange yellow blossom, my filler is dusty miller, a plant that only grows about 6 inches but has a bushy upright habit. For the spiller, I could not resist a lovely Black Mamba Petunia. Hopefully they all play nice and the petunia does not overwhelm everything.
Looks great so far! Now let the battle for takeover supremacy of the planter begin!
ReplyDeleteIt ought to be an epic battle worthy of Tolkien.
