Man Best Friends

No it wasn't always this drooling, slobbering kiss ass.

Back in the day, man's best friend was a creature that truly earned that title through millennia of hard work and sacrifice.

"Look back at our struggle for freedom,
Trace our present day's strength to its source;
And you'll find that man's pathway to glory
Is strewn with the bones of the horse."

So today I celebrate the horse!  Not just any horse - the best horse in the world.  Here he is: Liathach the wonder horse.  That name is pronounced Lee ock.  If you've ever been to the west coast of Scotland, then you know from whence it comes.

He's a fine beast who loves his groceries and treats
He's a patient jovial fellow who works hard for food.
He's a huge beast who is absolutely terrified of  pigs.  Since the pigs moved in, he hasn't quite been himself.
Sometimes he dresses up for Halloween.  We are busy working on his costume for this year.

  2. Lovely horse. Reminds me of Pacho, the horse of my very first horse and carriage ride.

    1. I am having to move him to a new barn at the end of the month because the pigs have messed up his mojo.

  4. Good -- even if the coffin races were canceled, at least you'll have a unicorn.

    I don't know about man's best friend, but for thousands of years horses were man's best weapon. The domestication of the horse revolutionized warfare. Liathach doesn't seem like the warrior type, though -- even with a horn.

    Can't blame him for his fear of pigs. Pigs can be dangerous.

    1. Yes - I cannot see him riding into battle. All the opposing army would have to do was bring some pigs and his nerve would fail him.

  5. He is handsome. Husbands family always had horses. They are amazing. Had no idea how much land came with your haunted mansion.

    1. I have to board him remotely. Still Sept. 30, I am moving him about 8 minutes away versus 30 so I ought to be able to spend more time with him and burn less fossil fuels.
