Michaels had little funkin pumpkins on sale for a $1. That called my name and inspired a bit of Creepmas crafting. They are perfect Jack Skellington heads. I did two expressions - the "happy full of wonder" and the sinister "I've got a plan". I used graphite paper to transfer the features which was a bit of a mess and got everywhere - I had to clean up with rubbing alcohol. Then I painted with glossy acrylic. I think they are pretty cute.
Adorable!
ReplyDeleteThey turned out great considering you had to make corrections. That sounded like a messy job.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. I should do this next year since we struggle with wanting to decorate. We just have white moon and stars lights on the porch. The neighbors have elaborate holiday lights so we don't want to be the house that ruins Christmas. Different Jack Skellington faces wearing Santa hats on the stairs would be cute.
ReplyDeleteI would love to turn my holiday decorating into something spooky - a scrooge graveyard, Nightmare before Christmas figures, a dark Victorian Christmas. Perhaps someday.
DeletePart of the problem is there isn't much time to strike and re-set between Oct. 31st and December 1st. Nightmare Before Christmas can over lap only I don't want to be pinned down to the same thing every year. We have floated the scary snowmen idea even looking normal until the black light hits only that is one more thing for storage. No garage makes storage challenging. There was a carriage house here until the 1950s only I think some land was lost when the house next door was built in the 50s. Very small city lot.
DeleteYeh - I agree. There is not a lot of time between Halloween and Christmas. This year Halloween took it out of me so I did not even put up exterior Christmas lights - bah humbug!
