Last Halloween I purchased two new products - one made me happy and one made me crabby. Firstly, I cannot say enough good this about these Martha Stewart pumpkin covers. I used the large and medium size to cover lampshades and they were amazing. Sturdy, attractive and reusable, they will be a product that makes my haunt year after year.
However, this pile of crap fell off the wall within a day of being put up. I thought a group of flying bats would look cool, but this crap doesn't stick to much. Really disappointing and a waste of my money. The picture on the box is cool though.
We put spiders up like that and they all peeled off too. Ended up putting them on frames and the clock mirrors and the door rather disappointing!
ReplyDeleteYes - very disappointing especially since the box shows them so attractively displayed on the walls.
DeleteToo bad the stickers didn't work. :( There are tons of companies successfully making wall stickers (I have Hello Kitty ones, they sell them at Fabricland). My HK stickers have lasted in my sewing room for years, although a bit yellowed. How hard is it to make a sticker? Really? I'm kind of shocked the pumpkin covers were better, Stewart ripped the idea off of some crafting blog. I've seen it done with old panty hose, I assumed these were the same. Are they made of a stiffer material??
ReplyDeleteYes - used panty hose last year and they worked pretty good. But the pumpkin covers have elastic edges so they fit better than the panty. Plus, after one use the panty hose were shot but these pumpkin covers held up well.
DeleteI really like your lampshade. It sucks about the stickers. I got some bat ones last year and mine held out . It was probably a different company
ReplyDeletePerhaps my walls are dirtier than yours!
DeleteThose pumpkin covers rock! What a quick 'n easy way to dress up pumpkins for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteYes a lot of people hate Martha because she does steal ideas. Her products, though, are usually decent quality.
DeleteI wondered how you did that lampshade. I'd pictured you embroidering tiny webs and spiders on a pair of old pantyhose!
ReplyDeleteNo - I am not nearly as talented as you my dear. A bit more of a hack, I am afraid!
DeleteI have seen the wall decor but not the lamp shade covers. Those do look very cool!
ReplyDeleteI bought my lampshade covers at Joanne's fabrics and crafts. They are also made in white.
DeleteThose pumpkin covers are great, I could use some on the lamps in our house as well.
ReplyDeleteYou are so in luck lady - I brought an extra package which I would be willing to share. Send an address to kathydaboo@gmail.com and I will post them.
DeleteThat lampshade looks super cool! Thanks for the warning about the bat decals. I'd been tempted by those very ones this year, but I didn't end up getting them because I couldn't think of where to put them. It sounds like it wouldn't have mattered where they went, because they would have just flown off the wall! Good to know.
