Who Gives a Scrap Halloween Finds

I lucked out and shopped at Who Give a Scrap, my favorite creative reuse center, on the day they were setting out their Halloween Treasures.  Whoo Hoo - I really scored some super stuff.

They had these candles new in the packaging at two dollars each, originally sold at Kolhs .  They will be perfect for my orange and black cabinet in the kitchen.

Look at this little fella - isn't it cute?

I can always used more styrofoam skulls - they are so handy for crafting.

I found this fun spider garland.  I think it looks swell in the dungeon.
Skelly hands originally from Michaels - will look fun crawling out from under some furniture.  I think they were a dollar each.
Cute owl ribbon - love the retro feel.

Skull beads must be good from something

Little Jacks that jingle

Another new in the packaging candle originally from Michaels.

I am so in love with The Who Gives a Scrap that I think every community in the US needs a creative reuse center.  It is a fab non profit that sells used craft materials dirt cheap.  It is a boon to teachers, artists and of course, Halloween crafters!  They keep hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash out of the landfill too.  It is such a win-win.

Big Lots has Lots!

The speed with which Halloween Merchandise has been vanishing from stores is amazing - kind of like toilet paper April 2020.  Old Fashioned Halloween alerted me to this phenomenon about a week ago and she was not kidding.  Home Goods and  JoAnn's Fabrics and Crafts are selling out fast.

However, one place with plenty of Halloween merchandise at great prices?  BIG LOTS. Here is a sampling of some of the cute stuff they have.

His and her skull pictures

Cute Raven Snow Globe
Skeleton Candle Holders

Palmistry hands - I need one for my divination cabinet
Baby M wanted these bat scales for her witch cabinet

This Baby Head is only five bucks - who can resist??

Dress and Jewellery Have Arrived

My dress for the wedding is here.  I got it from Sage Finds and it arrived in record time. It is called a Clarissa Burnout.  I fits pretty well although it is long.  I have ordered boots so hopefully with a little extra height, I can pull it off.  I think I can change my name to Lady cleavage now.

I also got my Jewellery from the Moon Maiden on Etsy.  Since she is in Denver, my packaged arrived quickly.  It is a serpent necklace with red gemstones and matching earrings.  Just  costume but I like the effect.

Most recently, my boots arrive from Recollections, a historical clothing place.  They  are victorian boots of the Funtasma brand.  They add enough height that my dress does not drag on the ground.

I Won a Prize

Over at the Countdown to Halloween Blog, a contest was held to name the spider mascot.  I chose Boris because as a young teen, I loved the song Boris the Spider by The Who.  My spider name was picked. For choosing the spiders name, I get a prize.  So pumped - who doesn't like prizes?

Fun with Filters

The filters on Instagram are a hoot.  I entertain myself regularly by trying them out.  The vast majority just put hearts on the screen or change the color but some are really cool.  For example, I can have a really big mouth.

Or a tiny mouth and some really big eyes

His Lordship likes this one

There are ones to make me into kitty cat complete with wrinkle softening and makeup.

Or Baby Yoda

Here I tried out some tats, colored contacts, and green highlights for the hair.

Alas they don't work so well on pets.   As you can see, Apollo, my Grandog got an eyelash on his nose. Baby M says there are special filters for animal faces.
So long - I gotta go be cool on Instagram.

The Manitou Moonlight Market and Faery Grove Candles

Manitou has a fun new Moonlight Market at the MAC every Friday night that is funded by a MACH grant.  MACH is a tax increase the good folks of Manitou approved last year to fund arts, culture and heritage.

Last Friday was the markets third week and it is booming.  One of my favorite vendors is Noice Foods who makes the yummiest vegan treats like cupcakes, spring rolls, and salad dressings.  Their cashew cheese is to die for.

But for sheer fun nobody beats Faery Grove Candles.   The stall featured lots of great macabre designs with delicious fragrances.  Here are some pictures I snapped for your enjoyment.

See no evil...

I purchased the red beauty below - a skull made up of lots of little skulls.  The fragrance reminds me of a perfume worn by my Great Aunt Helen.  She has long since passed but when I notice the candles scent, I swear she is there - spooky!

You can view more of works here in the Etsy store and maybe even get one of your own Faery Grove Candles.

Grandin Road 2021 Halloween Haven

Grandin Road 2021 collection has been online for a few weeks and I love to look at it. So many amazing things catch my eye.  They do such a lovely job with the photography.

To bad it is all so expensive and that I am trying not to buy anymore Halloween stuff.  Still, it is fun to dream.

The Wedding

The wedding of Baby M and Son of Nell is coming up fast and I really need to begin wrapping my brain around it.  It is not large but is a destination wedding so people are coming from all over.  I live in fear that the new Delta variant could reap havoc on the gathering and curse all the anti-vaxxer idiots who are keeping this pandemic alive.  Hopefully. there will be an exception for a fully vaccinated gathering taking place.   I think my daughters friends are grounded enough in reality to get vaccinated.  I know my family has gotten the jab.  I am not sure about the Groom's side.

Lately I have been trying to get all those crafts finished that have been sitting in totes for 9 months.  Above is skeleton couple that I attached to floral foam and arranged small flowers that I soaked in black dye.

I have also been working on the deer skulls which also sit on a flower base.  Most of these flowers were thrifted and dyed with rit liquid dye.

This weekend Baby M is coming over and hopefully we get to decide what is going where and what we still need to accomplish.

On an aside, blogger is behaving really funny this morning.  I have not posted in awhile so might not be abreast of changes they have made. Hope it doesn't have the covid!
