A Walk into Town on a Snowy Day

Yesterday was a gloomy, snowy day.  Just perfect for a walk into town.  The Manitou Brewing Company was having their annual pig roast.  They donate their spent mash to feed some free range pigs and then eat one every October on the anniversary of their opening.

We took the lower trail through the cemetery.  Here is a ghost on a bike.  This ghost looked homemade, probably cut from some old boxes.
We passed this disembodied leg made from an old post.  They change the shoe and sock on this regularly.
I covet this house.  Gayle and Dan live here and will be attending our party.  Do you think they would consider trading homes with His Lordship and I?

You can really see the snow falling.
Just look at their gate - I would not even have to make any fake pillars.  It is perfect for a haunt.

The locals are getting in the spirit of Halloween.

We made it to town, enjoyed a lovely pig, and walked home via Manitou Ave past the Avenue B & B who have decorated for Halloween.

This is owned by Gwen and Randy, who will also be at our party. Then past Rolf's house.  His decorations are all up too!
We stopped in the Manitou Springs Heritage Center for a hello.  This guy was in the hallway.
All in all, a lovely day and a nice break from party preparations. Now back to work!!

That house and gate are terrific, I don't blame you for wanting to swap.

  2. I covet that house too! I always wanted a house with a tower. That would be my witch's library/spell room.

  4. Great pics! Is the leg really giant-sized or just forced perspective?

  5. It is about 8 foot high From street level - carved from an old post. However, if you climb some steps, then you get level with it. It is not giant.

  6. That gate is perfect. Does it mysteriously thunder and lightning when you pass through it? Please tell me there’s a resident ghost that haunts the tower.
